First Evening in the NICU 3-19-08

I was determined to see my sweet babies that very night after they were born. I managed to get in the wheelchair and roll down to the NICU. Mom, Charles, and I were able to see Lucy Kate and Bryant. They were hooked up to so many monitors, the had an IV in place and there breathing was a little off. We were able to hold Lucy Kate and it was the best feeling ever. Bryant was very irritated so we were only able to look at him.

The Arrival of Lucy Kate and Bryant

As many of you have heard Bryant and Lucy Kate have arrived! I will give you the rundown of how things got started and what we have been doing. Last week the doctor let me go to partial bed rest, so of course I probable did a little more than I needed too. We celebrated my birthday over the weekend, went to the doctor on Monday morning, and made plans to go to Cleveland to the Punkin Path on Tuesday. Ginger called me that morning to let me know Warner was sick and that we could go on Wednesday morning. I was fine with that becasue I was feeling a little yucky myself. I was up during the night Monday night with contractions but I figured I could wait until Thursday. I laid around all day Tuesday and that night I was having contractions again. I got up and took a shower around 2:30 and woke Charles up, he wanted me to call the doctor before we headed out to Memphis. I called Dr. Homsi around 3:30 and he suggested waiting and coming into the office at 8:00 a.m. I laid in the bed and tried to sleep which was an impossible task and I was up again at 6:00 so we could head out. I woke Charles up and we loaded up the car and headed to Memphis. When I arrived at the doctor I was in a lot of pain and was 3 cm. dilated. He said "we are going to have babies today in about 2 hours." We were so excited and started calling family so they could get to the hospital. We checked in at the hospital and by 11:47 we had Bryant and at 11:48 Lucy Kate was here. They were delivered by C-section because they were breech and transverse. I was extremely nervous about everything but my sweet husband was by my side. The babies were taken straight to the NICU and all I got was a glimpse of them. I was in recovery for a while as they watched my blood pressure and waited for the feeling to come back in my legs. As soon as I could wiggle my legs we could roll through the NICU and look at the babies. We were so excited to see them and they were doing great!

My 26th Birthday

I celebrated my 26th birthday today and it was perfect. I started the day sleeping in while Charles was gone turkey hunting. My parents came mid morning and planned a great lunch. Dad went to the store while mom and I hung out in the nursery (my new favorite room in the house) and then we ate a late lunch. My brother was able to make it and Emily was working so she is coming over tomorrow. My gifts were great and things I really wanted so I was so excited. My sweet husband surprised me with a ring that has my birthstone, which I love and did not even ask for. I am so proud of him for coming up with it on his own. For dinner we met up with some great friends at the club and we celebrated with great food and cake. The day was perfect and I appreciate all the phone calls and wonderful gifts.

34 Weeks

I am a little late posting my 34 week belly shots and giving an update on the babies. When we went to the doctor on Thursday the ultrasound showed that the babies were doing great. Bryant weighed in at 4.10 lbs and Lucy Kate at 6.1 lbs. They both gained about 1 pound in 2 weeks which is great! The doctor said that I could be off bed rest around the house, but take things slow. I was so excited that I went and had my hair highlighted and we went out and ate dinner that night. 11 weeks of bed rest is enough for anybody and prior to that I was on partial bed rest, so now I am somewhere between strict bed rest and partial bed rest. We go back to the doctor on Monday and I hope that we are getting closer to the arrival of Lucy Kate and Bryant. The doctor said that he will probable not let me go past 37 weeks, so we are looking at April 3rd!!

Fun in the snow

WE had so much fun today and all I got to do was watch. Charles and I slept in and as soon as we got up the Agostinellis were already out building a snowman. Mary Evelyn and Sam came over to help out and I stepped out to take a few photos in the snow. Later on everyone headed to the levee, if you live in the delta this is a must for all kids. Charles and I went, the Agostinellis, Mary Evelyn and Same, and the Livelys. We had a great time and I was able to take a lot of great pictures from the truck.

SNOW!

We are so excited that it snowed!! It started this afternoon and we have been watching it all day. Charles even went out and joined the neighbors in an afternoon snowball fight. Hopefully it will continue to snow through the night and Charles can take the dogs out to play in it tomorrow. Enjoy the pics from the snowball fight.

Pretty Busy Day

Today marks 33 weeks and the twins are doing great! We had our weekly Thursday appointment and the ultrasound went great. Dr. Homsi is so proud that I have made it this long. He said if I make it to 34 weeks we can lighten up on the bed rest and I can actually do some things around the house. 37 weeks will be about the limit he will let me go if I make it to that long and then the babies will be here. A few photos below to show how big this belly is getting.

I got a big mom vehicle today, and no it is not a mini van. Charles and I have been talking about getting a larger vehicle since we will have two new additions to the family. We have looked at quite a few things and we finally got what we wanted today. I got the Infiniti QX 56 and I LOVE IT!!! It fits in the garage perfectly and Charles has it all set up where I want hit anything when I pull the big bus in the garage.

Once we got home Val, Jennie, and Julie came by to visit and see the new car. These girls have been great and have helped me out so much. Mary Evelyn and Ginger came over as well and went through and organized the nursery. I am so grateful to them for all they have done. Things are finally coming together. All the paintings are finished, the long awaited fabric arrived and the curtains are being made, and I bought the fabric for the side table. It is so exciting and it should all be finished by the end of next week.
