Happy Birthday to Me

Me, Mary Evelyn, Jennie, Kate, Ginger, and Julie

I celebrated the big 2-7 this year! The birthday was lost in the mix as we had so much going on with the loss of my grandmother and planning for the babies birthday. We were able to go out and eat with Chris and Ginger and then the girls took me out for a birthday dinner celebration. I love these girls so much!

March 19th

I was able to blog that is was there birthday but to exhausted to do anything else. We just spent the day at home and waited for daddy to come home, so we could sing happy birthday and have cupcakes. They love cupcakes and again had no trouble eating all of it. As I went to bed that night I just could not believe they were actually a year old. I kept thinking it wasn't real since we had not had the party yet. Again, we thank God for Bryant and Lucy Kate each and every day. They bring so much joy to our lives and they are doing so well. God has really watched over these precious angels and we look forward to all the things He has in store for us.

Happy Birthday

It is so hard to believe that one year ago Bryant and Lucy Kate entered our world and things were forever changed. This past year has been full of so many emotions, from fear to pure joy and happiness. We are so thrilled to celebrate such a wonderful occasion and we are so blessed to have them in our lives. I will have more time to post tomorrow about the day so look for pictures tomorrow. I have to get some sleep before I pass out, too much going on these past two weeks and today was extremely busy!

Please Pray for Our Family

Today brought shocking news as we learned that my grandma passed away during the night. She was a wonderful woman who loved everyone she ever met. She lived a simple life in a small town where everyone knew her, she ate at the same little restaurants, was dedicated to her church and enjoyed watching the day through her big picture window. She has gone home to be with the Lord and as bad as it hurts we are forever grateful that we were able to know her and be loved by her. I am so thankful that she was able to spend time with Bryant and Lucy Kate and they will always here about there great grandma Lucille.

Yuck

Yuck is the perfect way to describe the past few days at our home. I awoke Sunday morning around 4 AM and new that something was wrong. As I lay in the bathroom floor to be close to the toilet I new I was about to be the next victim of the stomach flu, which has taken over Clarksdale. It hit at 5:15 AM and I would get about 30 minute break between times of severe sickness. I slept in the floor until the babies awoke and Charles went to take care of them, did not want to take a chance in getting Charles sick. I called me parents very early and my dad was over to help with the babies. My day was horrible and I was unable to keep anything down so this resulted in cold sweats, laying out on the bathroom floor, my thumbs turning in, and horrible cramps in my arms. It hurt so bad and Charles was trying to stretch my hands out, he called a nurse friend and she came and set me up with IV fluids. It made a huge difference and I was able to get some sleep. I am so thankful to my mom and dad, Charles and Vernita for taking care of the babies. I was able to function again today and I hope I never become that victim again! Now we pray that the babies do not get it.

Good Report

A few weeks ago, I took Bryant and Lucy Kate for a follow-up developmental evaluation from the NICU. The results were excellent and they scored at the appropriate age/adjusted age on most task. Bryant scored one month low in crawling because he has not started a the time of the evaluation, but the following week he started the army crawl! Expressive language skills should be a little more advanced at this point, but this is not a concern right now (i just happen to know a few people that could help me out in this area). The doctor was so impressed with them and made me feel so great about al the progress they have made. Lucy Kate started many things before Bryant but he is right on task now and they are doing all the same things. Army crawling all around, pulling up, talking, eating everything, and enjoying the good life! So happy I could share such great news with you guys.

My new thing!

Bryant and Lucy Kate's food is a huge priority to me at this point in there lives. I am very picky about what they eat and since I stay at home I feel a responsibility to make sure everything they eat is as good as it can be for them. Of course we take our daily vitamins and iron but I want to make sure what they eat has some nutritional value. I found a cook cookbook for babies and toddlers, the recipes are wonderful! I have made all of the things in this cookbook for their age range, so I am trying to find some more stuff. Starting out I did all the Gerber baby food and then began moving to the graduates and one day I decided to really start reading those labels and it is very disturbing. The manufacturers put so much junk in the stuff that all the healthy things are sucked out. It takes much longer to make out a grocery list and to do the shopping but I love knowing that what they put in there mouths is good for them! If anyone has any suggestions for healthy recipes or knows any websites about it please let me know. Some people think I am crazy for being so picky but hopefully this will help my children in the long run and they want be such picker eaters!
