Something New

Lucy Kate had a doctor's appointment today which is a big change from the normal. It is always Bryant that has to see all the doctors but Lucy Kate was up today. We had an appointment with a neurologists to discuss her "spots". These were identified by out pediatrician as cafe o' la spots. We have already been to the eye doctor to check her vision and optic nerves. It all checked out perfectly but we want to keep a record of the spots and if things change so off we went to the neurologists. I want go into too much detail but the spots can basically be just that, spots or it could be a big deal. We are being referred to a genetics doctor to have blood work done and detailed documentation of the spots and Lucy Kate will also be having a brain scan to rule out things. At this point Dr. McVicar does not feel as though it is anything to be to concerned about as Lucy Kate does not have any other signs or symptoms that would relate it to neurofibromatosis (don't look this up because it does not sound good). All we can do it pray that the brain scan is clear and all things check out okay. We will continue to go to the doctor every six months to have a check up and then after age 3 we will go once a year. Please pray for our family as this brings new concerns and worries.
